Hi my name is Megan DaCosta and I am the Student Activities Chair this year. I graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Mechanical Engineering degree. I am currently with Price Industries on the Application Engineering Team for the Grilles, Registers, and Diffusers (GRD) product line. I’m an avid rugby fan and played for over 10 years! Looking forward to meeting a lot of new faces!
This my first year involved with ASHRAE and we have some very exciting things coming. Our big goal is to initiate the student branch at the University of Manitoba.
Student branches provide opportunities for networking, professional development, leadership, scholarships, grants, and design competitions. The main purpose of a student branch is to aid skill development, provide access to resources (ASHRAE standards, design guides, handbooks) and plan events that are of direct interest to the students, such as technical tours, guest speakers, mock interviews, and trivia nights.
As a general student member there will be a few events throughout the year. The 1st being the ASHRAE Student Night Thursday, November 24, at 6:30PM in the EITC atrium at the University of Manitoba. Students can attend for free! There will be food and drinks and the opportunity to view the design projects by students in the HVAC class. Industry professionals will also be in attendance, so it will be a great networking opportunity. Companies that are actively recruiting will be marked with a green sticker. Register here. https://www.ashraemanitoba.ca/events/november-meeting/
