Summary

Join us for the “Fundamentals of Gas Detection” presentation, designed to help attendees better understand the basics of gas detection and make specifying easier.

You will learn why gas detection is considered essential for life and health safety, and explore various gas detection technologies for combustibles, toxins, and refrigerants. The content is manufacturer/product neutral, covering the what, why, and how of gas detection, and providing the underlying basics to help you build a strong foundation for your building specifications. We will discuss best practices for different environments such as parking garages, chiller rooms, MRI rooms, arenas, and cold storage areas. Additionally, you will be introduced to exposure limits and safety standards set by organizations such as NIOSH, OSHA, and ASHRAE. The presentation will also cover technical details such as sensing radius, mounting heights, coverage, and sensor location, along with recommended schedules for maintenance and calibration.

Consulting engineers and others interested in the selection, installation, and purchase of gas detection equipment will greatly benefit from the material covered.
